1800's Reclaimed Barn Wood - Beams, Planks, Boards Item 60224 1800's Barn Wood - Beams, Planks, Boards. The old barn is being dismantelled and the timbers and boards sold. This is a 40' x 80' Dairy Barn in Southern Wisconsin. Construction was typical mortised joints and then pegged or double pegged. There are also lap joints along the longer roof beams. The majority of wood is white oak. There is approx. 4000 Square Feet of Weathered Oak siding. These are 3/4" thick and 17 feet in length with some ends worn or split. Over 85% is usable lumber in widths of 8 inches up to 12 inches. Weathered Oak Barn Siding - $2.00 / Square Foot (Any Width) The timbers are still being reclaimed. There are some that are 12" x 12" x 22'. The largest are all 100 year old hand hewn beams. Some may have empty mortise pockets and peg holes and other marks characteristic of a century of use. There are also a large number of 4" x 6" timbers in lengths of nearly 20 feet. Hand Hewn Oak Barn Timbers - Lengths Up To 22 Feet 4" x 6" - $5.00 / Linear Foot 8" x 8" - $8.00 / Linear Foot 12" x 12" - $10.00 / Linear Foot There is currently a small supply of oak that is 1" thick and 17" to 20" wide. These are in lengths from 3' to 8'. These are rare and hard to find. Rough Unfinished Oak - $12.00 / Square Foot Remember that this older wood has been air dried and not kiln dried. Air drying preserves the cellular structure of the wood making it much stronger and giving it a richer color. This is one reason why so many people are using reclaimed barn lumber.
