This is an item from the early 1900's. It is of cast metal with a shiny wood handle on the crank. It has a spring loaded holder for small bottles on the bottom. It has a 2 1/2 inch I.D. threaded opening at the top. The wooden handle is fine, swivels great, and turns an auger that draws the material into a grinder on one end.
Cast into the one side is:
"NORLEIGH DIAMOND"
N.D.
NORVEL - SHAPLEIGH HARDWARE, CO. ST. LOUIS, MO
Cast into the other side is:
PAT.PENDING
PAT. FEB 14, 1905
PAT. AUG.31, 1909
The two sides are held together with four screws. It measures 12 inches high about 8 inches wide (with handle) and about 3 inches deep. It works great. It now has some rust on the outside of it.
