Antique (1918) Czech / Bohemian Glass Necklace - Item # 0089 - SOLD
This is an excellent necklace made of multi-facetted, light purple Bohemian glass. It is costume jewelry made around 1918 in Czechoslovakia. Each of the gems and beads in this piece have been cut by hand and polished by hand. No two beads have the same facetted surfaces. It looks as if this entire piece has been hand made, right down to the wire used to string the beads for the chain. The base metal used may be copper (it is non-magnetic). The large gem is held in a setting made of wire and small ornate leaves. The leaves used for the setting of the largest stone have a silver finish on them. Some of this finish has worn off and most of the finish on the back of the setting has come off, leaving the gold colored metal exposed.
The chain is approximately 16 inches long. It is in great condition - no missing or chipped beads. The last ring on the chain, just before the latch, has been stamped:

The large gem in this piece measures approximately 7/8 inches long and 1 5/8 inches wide. It is an amazing stone, showing off it's beautiful hand cut and hand polished facets. The weight of the entire necklace is approximately 15 grams.
This is a great piece of costume jewelry dating from 1918.
