Rare Westinghouse Mazda Light Demonstrator - WORKS - Item # 0022 - SOLD
This is an exceptional rare find. All original and in good shape, this unique display item was used to show off a variety of decorative Westinghouse electrical bulbs. It has a wooden base (5 1/4 inches by 27 inches by 3/4 inch) and the upper portion is sheet metal. The finish on this piece is quite rough with a place where something dripped on it and effected the finish. But It Does Works. It has 12 original porceline 120 volt lamp sockets going around the top surface. Each of these has it's own original toggle switch. Each one works. On the back are two more light sockets. One is for a regular bulb, and the other is for a larger, 1 1/2 inch screw-in bulb. These have their own switches on the sockets. There is also a box on the back with a pilot light and two electrodes coming out of it. I don't know what this was ever used for. For such an odd looking item, it does not suprize me that I don't recognize all that it does. There is also an outlet for another cord on the back. This could be a great conversation piece if cleaned up some. It appears to be complete, although no bulbs are included. The cord is a heavy duty old cloth type and looks to be original with original two prong 110 volt plug..
No attempt has been made to pretty up this item. It looks like it has sat in a basement or garage for a long, long time. Outside it has alot of dust on it. When I handled it my hands got pretty dirty. There are a couple of dents in the metal and the surface has scratches on it. Aside from its rough appearance now, it could be cleaned up and look really awesome. All of the porceline sockets are intact (no chips). Some are dirty, but the metal electrical contacts are fine in every one. The individual toggle swithes all work great. They still have the 'snap' action to them. There is alot of brass hardware holding it all together. A metal tag attached to the bottom reads:

This is truly a very unusual piece, quite a rarity, and in complete working condition. The complete measurements are aproximatel 27 inches in length, 11 inches deep and 16 inches tall. This would be an excellent display item for the right place. Another ancient relic of the past.
